Apertura editorial de la decimocuarta edición de Latam Plagas

We are in July 2022 and we can be sure that we are in a post-pandemic period. The vaccines developed against COVID-19 have allowed us to return to “relative” normality, but the confinement is undoubtedly behind us. Disinfection services have fallen noticeably, and again, the challenge involves adaptation and recovery of professional pest management services. Recreational activities, gastronomic establishments and massive shows have recovered the flow of people from the years before the virus. Pests, unrelated to influenza, have continued their life cycles without incident and continue to be a major problem in areas of food production, hospitals, retirement homes for the elderly, or populations where the circulation of vector-borne diseases remains high. In this issue of LATAMPLAGAS we have tried to bring you topics related to several problematic species in the world, both in terms of structural damage (termites) and public health (vector mosquitoes). Coincidentally, the articles in this new edition reinforce the idea regarding growth projections in terms of demand for services. Despite the pandemic, the world population continues to grow, as does the generation of food and the expansion of cities, accompanied by those organisms that continue to evolve alongside human activities. The need to update and adapt is permanent, which is why we bring you specific notes with new findings of species in countries where they were not considered, non-chemical technologies for the management of insects, rodents and other pests, operating systems that promote the orderly growth and profitability of companies. From Spain, the efforts of ANECPLA show us the path regarding good union practices, demonstrating with positive actions and results what strategic planning implies for the common good of service companies. Training and professionalism are built by disseminating and generating training and training spaces on the subject. For this reason, we bring you the international agenda of workshops developed by various entities, as well as the books recommended by LATAMPLAGAS. Ing. Guillermo J. Tarelli CHEMOTECNICA S. A.
