PERUPLAGAS, the most important integrated urban pest management meeting in Latin America

For the second consecutive year, the Ricardo Palma University of Lima hosted PERUPLAGAS 2017, the most important Integrated Urban Pest Management meeting in Latin America.
In this second edition, the wide academic offering attracted the participation of more than 530 attendees from Peru, Mexico, USA, Guatemala, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Australia. The call for speakers included specialists from Germany, Spain, the United States, Cuba, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Peru, who developed a wide range of topics related to the integrated management of urban pests, including vectors of public health importance.
The programmatic structure included successful and innovative strategies for the integrated management of synanthropic rodents, flies, cockroaches, stored grain pests, food safety, sanitary design and maintenance, disinfection, disinfestation, fumigation and non-chemical methods for pest control, among others.
The theoretical sessions were held in two auditoriums simultaneously, with two specialized workshops on control of Aedes aegypti and IUPM in the food industry during the first and second days respectively. In the main auditorium, exhibitions of general topics organized into thematic axes were held.
Likewise, an exhibition area for IUPM products and equipment was developed. Products from more than 25 of the leading global, regional and local companies in the sector were presented, being a networking space very well used by companies in search of business opportunities.
The success of this meeting was based on the large offer of exhibitors and topics that were discussed, including new products recently launched in other latitudes, as well as the participation of top-level global companies, which interested participants from various countries.
The organizing committee has committed to holding the third edition of PERUPLAGAS on November 8 and 9, 2018 with the same technical, scientific and commercial level.
