Editorial: why Latam Plagas was born
Editorial presentation, with the axes, context and technical perspective that guide this issue of Latam Plagas.
The world of pests is fascinating and trying to understand their phylogenetic development, aimed at perpetuating species, as a dynamic process in which we compete for the same resources, is even more admirable.
Economic growth in the region and globalization, which results in much more demanding quality standards, has generated the need for more professional integrated urban pest management services, with high technology and cutting-edge products at the service of the industry.
In this order of ideas and considering the need to have a platform for the socialization of technical, scientific and commercial information that allows us to know bionomics, biology, abundance, distribution and behavior of urban pests as well as the most efficient approaches for their control, LATAM PLAGAS was born.
This venture seeks to bring together renowned Integrated Urban Pest Management (IUPM) specialists from the Latin American region, to share information about successful control experiences developed in various latitudes as well as about innovative products and equipment, with the latest technology and proven effectiveness that are incorporated into the palette offered by the market.
We are sure that this contribution to the community linked to urban pest management, whether controllers or users of the latter's services, will be extremely helpful in strengthening competencies and capacities, decisively contributing to winning the difficult battle we fight daily against urban pests.
We hope that it will be mandatory reading for the most demanding IUPM specialists, but also for those who are just starting out in this admirable world.
