PERUPLAGAS 2018: knowing to conquer

On November 8 and 9, the 3rd edition of PERUPLAGAS was held in the central auditorium of the Ricardo Palma University. Under the motto KNOW TO OVERCOME, 29 speakers presented topics related to the development of new methodologies, as well as successful strategies for integrated management of urban pests, stored grain pests, vector control of importance in public health, as well as food safety. The opening ceremony was led by the Rector of the University Dr. Iván Rodríguez Chávez and had the participation of the General Director of DIGESA OF THE Ministry of Health Dr. Percy Montes Rueda, the President of the National Academy of Sciences Dr. Gustavo Gonzales Rengifo, the National Dean of the College of Biologists of Peru Blgo. The focus of the topics to be discussed was organized into thematic blocks according to the interests of the attendees, seeking to privilege the socialization of successful experiences of integrated management of urban pests developed in various latitudes, as well as to publicize innovative tools, equipment and inputs of proven effectiveness. This edition of PERUPLAGAS had the participation of 720 attendees who came from different places including our capital, the interior of our country, as well as from Australia, Spain, France, USA, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador among others. Participants were able to appreciate new technologies and products from the fair, which was attended by more than 30 companies who presented the latest in integrated urban pest management. This 2019, the 4th edition will take place in the Daniel Alcides Carrión auditorium of the Medical College of Peru in the city of Lima, during September 11 and 12. The perspective of this congress will once again be to make available to participants the latest science and technology of integrated urban pest management, convinced that it is the best way to contribute to the professionalization of the field.
